Raghav Chadha’s Suspension Revoked: Rajya Sabha Chairman Takes Action
NEW DELHI: Raghav Chadha, MP of Aam Aadmi Party, had his suspension from the Rajya Sabha lifted by Chairman Jagdeep Dhankhar on Monday. The suspension, initiated during the Monsoon session of Parliament, was revoked following a motion presented by BJP MP G.V.L. Narsimha Rao.
The Rajya Sabha Privileges Committee met on Monday to discuss the matter. Chadha had been suspended on August 11 for a “breach of privilege,” accused of including names in a select committee without the consent of five Rajya Sabha MPs. He termed the suspension illegal and moved to the Supreme Court, but was asked to apologize by the court. Chadha’s lawyer assured the court that he would seek an appointment to apologize to the Rajya Sabha Chairperson.
